At Coombs Early Learning Centre, we approach these early years with a deep respect for each child’s individuality. Our Nursery is a calm, purposeful environment where babies are seen as capable learners from their very first day. We focus on building a secure foundation of trust, ensuring your baby feels safe to explore at their own pace.

Primary Caregiving: A Secure Connection

We believe that emotional security is the prerequisite for all learning. To support this, we use a Primary Caregiving model. Your baby is paired with a dedicated educator who becomes their “secure base.” By having one person who truly understands your baby’s cues, how they like to be held and what settles them, we provide the consistency they need to feel at home.

Continuity of Home Routines

We work in partnership with you to ensure your baby’s experience at the Centre aligns with their life at home. Rather than enforcing a rigid schedule, we adapt to the child:

Purposeful Rest: Our cot rooms are quiet, supervised spaces where we follow the specific sleep rituals you use at home.

Individualised Nutrition: Whether they are starting solids or follow a specific milk schedule, our educators and on-site chef ensure their needs are met with care.

Stay & Play Orientation

Before your official start date, we invite you to spend time in the room to build familiarity.

The Handover

We take the time each morning to hear how your night was, ensuring we can provide the best care that day.

Real-Time Updates

Stay connected through the Xplor app, receiving photos and updates on sleep and feeds throughout the day.

Spaces Designed for Discovery

Our Nursery is thoughtfully curated to encourage sensory exploration and physical development without the overstimulation of a traditional childcare setting.

Natural Sensory Play

We prioritise high-quality, natural resources over plastic toys. By offering a variety of textures, weights, and temperatures, such as wood, silk, and stone, we invite infants to explore their world through meaningful touch and sight.

Physical Agency & Movement

We provide open, safe floor spaces that allow infants to develop their gross motor skills, rolling, crawling, and reaching, in their own time. This “free movement” approach respects the child’s physical development and builds true confidence.
